Sorry I haven't posted for such a long time. Dylan is keeping me very busy and when he sleeps I have also been trying to sleep. Not much news to write as my days are filled with feeding Dylan, burping him, getting him to sleep and then trying to catch a nap myself before it's time for another feed. He has now started eating every three hours (instead of every hour and a half which he was doing initially). It's great cause it means I actually have time to get stuff done in between his feeds.
He's fantastic and a joy to be around. In the day time he generally naps a bit but is also starting to stay awake a bit more, which is nice as I get to spend time with him while he's awake and alert. It's when it gets to 6 p.m and his colic kicks in that it gets difficult. Sometimes he'll just cry and cry for up to 6 hours! Even if we manage to get him off to sleep, he'll normally wake up again within 10 minutes because he's in pain. I had this big dilemma about whether to give him a dummy (pacifier) or not, but after 5 nights of no sleep and him crying for hours on end, I gave in and tried it. It worked the first night and within 5 minutes of giving him the dummy, he fell asleep! It's been a real comfort to him since.
When he suffers from colic, my mum and I take it in turns to soothe him and my mum just walks up and down the corridor with him back and forth till he falls asleep. She's lost 3 kgs in 3 weeks! I'm also losing weight too but I think mine is from breastfeeding so much! He's definitely a good eater, which is a good thing, I know.
We've had a lot of visitors which is nice. It makes me feel normal again when I get to socialise with people. Otherwise each day just rolls into the next. I can't believe how quickly the time is flying by - Dylan will be three weeks old tomorrow. I have some more pictures of him to attach. The first one is of Dylan with Build-a-Bear, a gift from Thomas L.Webber at REMAX in Doha. Then there are two photos taken yesterday.
So, I've become one of those people who can do nothing but talk about their child. It's only natural, I know, but I feel sorry for all my friends as all I do is talk about Dylan! Does that ever change?
Ok, one more thing, then I must go get some rest. We took Dylan to get his passport photograph taken so that I can apply for his first passport. The guy in the studio was very good and very patient. He laid the white sheet down on the floor and we laid Dylan on it. He started crying immediately and wouldn't stop. We kept picking him up to soothe him and he'd be fine, then as soon as we laid him down he cried again. The guy tried and tried and tried to get a photo. The funny thing was every time I was calling 'Dylan' to get him to look at the camera, the photographer was calling 'Helen' to him. Anyway, after an hour in the photo studio and me having to feed him twice, the guy finally got a good photo of him. What fun!
Must go now - time to nap as Dylan's asleep. Write soon.
